Ladies Guild

St. Martin's Ladies Guild is a Parish organization that offers a variety of social, charitable, and spiritual activities for women of the parish. Our activities include:

  • Annual Craft Fair
  • Communion Breakfast
  • Pot-Luck Supper
  • Easter Baskets for needy children
  • Ladies Guild Scholarship
  • decorating the church at Christmas and Easter
  • caring for the Altar and linens
  • participating in the Parish Picnic.

Meetings are usually held on the first Monday of the Month from October through May and feature many different activities.

The Ladies Guild also supports various charitable organizations such as Birth Right, Grace Smith House, Poughkeepsie Children's Home and the House on the Hill in Goshen through donations. This year we had a mock baby shower at our Christmas Dinner and all the layette items received were donated to Birth Right. Every Lenten season we ask the parishioners to donate candy. The candy is divided and made into Easter Baskets for the children at Grace Smith House, Poughkeepsie Children's Home and the House on the Hill in Goshen and to some families in our parish. During the Easter season we have distributed over 173 baskets.

Some of the women of the Ladies Guild serve on the Altar Caring Committee. These women devote about two hours a month to making sure the Altar and linens are in order. Many of them give the church that special touch that makes the inside shine.

The Ladies Guild awards a scholarship to the highest ranking graduating student from the St. Martin de Porres Church School in the subject of Religion.

The Ladies Guild supports the parish picnic through donations and activity planning.

Members of the Ladies Guild make the Baptismal Bibs the babies receive at their Baptism. The Ladies Guild provide the materials.

The Ladies' Guild sponsors one major fund raiser, the Annual Craft Fair in November. Most of the funds raised are donated back to the Parish for areas of need. Past donations include a Nativity Set; Altar Linens; Songbooks and Bibles in the pews; and a Memorial donation to the Our Church, Our Future campaign.

All women of the parish are welcome to attend our meetings.
